Adam Koots and Tenth Dan are the Beugs Brothers

Australian artists Adam Koots and Tenth Dan have come together through the love of that ol’ sticky icky to form the heavily sedated outfit, Beugs Brothers.

Red eyes, good vibes and munchies… Hits From The Beug is a modern day homage to the classic Cypress Hill track Hit’s From The Bong, laced with a legendary Australian spin… no we’re not talking about a jail mix.

The new track is produced by Adam Koots and has been released as a free promo track. This is the first of many tracks we expect from the Beugs Brothers outfit with a full length album already in the works. We are loving everything about this project already, including the amazing artwork as featured above. We don’t have any further information to share at this time but we’ll be sure to share it as soon as we do.

Released via Pang Productions, a stalwart of the local Hip Hop scene, Hits From The Beug is available now here.

Baker Boy Releases New Video For Single ‘Move’

Baker Boy might be self-isolating like all of us, but recently the hip-hop artist has brought his A- game energy to his new video ‘Move’, certain to get you off your ISO couch. The video premiered on YouTube with Danzal (aka Baker Boy) interacting with his fans online as the video was viewed for its first time.

Baker Boy’s first release of the year is dedicated to his partner, a tribute to the strong women in Baker Boy’s life and those who raised him and for the video, it was important for Danzal that a strong female team worked with him on the 90’s feel clip.

Baker Boy says, “Move was a really fun video to make, it had such a chilled vibe and a really great team! One of the main things I wanted was to have a strong female team around the video, I was lucky to work with Freya Esders as the Director and I collaborated with Aurie Indianna again on the Creative Direction and Styling which is always a fun process. We had a mostly female team the whole way through this clip form Freya and Aurie, to the dance Choreographer, Hair and Make Up Artist to the editor.”

Shooting on film, and getting back to more rustic film making approach didn’t come without its difficulties, shot in early March, the film got delayed while processing in New York due to Covid-19 restrictions and postal delays but Baker Boy feels it was well worth the wait; ‘It was great process, it got slowed down a bit getting the film scanned in New York during a global pandemic, but it all came together, and it really nailed the vibe and direction I have been trying to send the Baker Boy project in.”

Creative Director and Stylist Aurie Indianna recalls where the inspiration came for the new video, “Danzal was keen on following the love song story line, so we worked together to kind of recreate some of our early memories as a couple, and keep it light and fun, with lots of energy! We knew right from the start that we wanted to shoot on film and create almost a retrospective feel to the clip. This really triggered the idea for the 90’s / millennium references but then playing with that through kitschy moments like Danzal spinning on the couch while FaceTiming.”

Rapping in his native language of Yolngu Matha and English, ‘Move’ was produced by Willie Tafa (Ariana Grande, Ella Mai) and mixer Andrei Eremin.

Hilltop Hoods Release Fundraising Song ‘I’m Good?’ From Isolation

Released last week, HILLTOP HOODS have written a song from, and about isolation titled ‘I’M GOOD?’, with proceeds from the track going to the SUPPORT ACT ‘Roadies (Crew) Fund’. The band had been in lockdown writing their new album but decided to take a break and work on something that would help road and support crew – including those whose livelihoods have been devastated by the impact of COVID-19.

‘I’M GOOD?’ is available on all digital platforms now.  Proceeds from the artist, record label and publisher royalties from streams and downloads of ‘I’M GOOD?’ will go directly to SUPPORT ACT ‘Roadies (Crew) Fund’. Additionally, Island Records/Universal Music Australia, Sony/ATV Music Publishing (Australia) Pty Ltd, Blue Max Music, and Media Arts Lawyers are chipping in $2,500 each to kick off the fundraising.

On the production side of things, the band has enlisted SIXFOUR (Paul and John Bartlett) to produce, Plutonic Lab (Leigh Ryan) to mix and Alex Mader of Disk Edits to master the track.

Regarding the release of the song, the band had this to say: It’s a very dark time at the moment, so we wanted to make something light-hearted, we’re hoping that the song might give someone a laugh and maybe lift their spirits. But ultimately what we want to do is raise money for the roadies and associated support crew – including those who have lost their livelihoods due to this pandemic.’ – Hilltop Hoods

If you are able, please consider donating to Support Act and directing your donation to the ‘Roadies (Crew)  Fund’ here

Flu Releases ‘Just Some Verses I Had On My Phone’

New release features Australian artists Lazy Grey, Phil Gektor and Mata

Acclaimed Hip Hop producer Flu, has quietly released a brand new project titled ‘Just Some Verses I Had On My Phone. The 6 track release features Lazy Grey, Phil Gektor and Mata.

Flu has been carving quite the lane for himself over the past couple of years, teaming up with a number of international artists including Jah Monte, Waterr, Estee Nack & Starker and more. The journey Flu has been on as an artist has been an enjoyable one to watch. Highly revered in the underground, we haven’t seen a local producer evolve quite like this over a large number of years. It’s a testament to his work ethic, drive and determination to not just fall in with the same old, same old.

“Just some verses I had on my phone…like literally. Some old collabs etc… whipped up the beats over a rainy weekend” – Flu

Flu is totally confident in his artistry, there’s no trend hoping here. If you’re a fan of Flu’s previous work, you’ll find something here. Head over to Bandcamp and grab a copy today… you know… support independent artists and all that.

You can keep up to date with Flu on Twitter.
