Thundamentals Commence Release Of ‘ISO Tapes’

Weekly Series Of Archived Live Footage & Double Live Album

Renowned Australian hip-hop trio Thundamentals yesterday unveiled ISO TAPES, a weekly video series showcasing never-before-seen footage from two very special live performances filmed in 2019, which will culminate into a double-live album released in June.

Whilst in isolation the band have dug into the vaults to present footage from two unique shows performed last year – ‘I Love Songs: A Night At The Symphony’ with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra which took place one year ago this week and their acclaimed One-Off Acoustic Performance at Sydney’s Factory Theatre.

Across the next two months, a new song and video will drop via YouTube and streaming platforms every Wednesday night and culminate with the release of both shows as a complete live album.

Kicking off last night, fans will be treated to favourites from the Thundas catalogue including Something I Said, Sally, Eyes On Me and more.

Stay tuned to Thundamentals on Instagram and Facebook for more info.

DJ Bacon Releases “Beastie Floyd” Megamix Album

The follow up release to his triumphant 2018 “Back In Hell” megamix – DJ Bacon once again mixes rock and rap to deliver one of the deepest, and most comprehensive mash up projects ever attempted.

Not only is this a whole album of 7 new remixes, the album is mixed into itself to create a mega-mix album – over 20 minutes in length. Beastie Boys vocals used are laced with a sound bed of multiple Pink Floyd loops samples and sound snippets.

Although designed as a megamix experience – 5 of the individual remixes are also included in this package so the DJs can get down and play the remixes.

DJ Bacon’s most ambitious project to date, there are equal borrowings from the obscure and well-known elements of both bands. This is a remix project that, like Pink Floyd, is dark, experimental and complex at times.

Adam Koots and Tenth Dan are the Beugs Brothers

Australian artists Adam Koots and Tenth Dan have come together through the love of that ol’ sticky icky to form the heavily sedated outfit, Beugs Brothers.

Red eyes, good vibes and munchies… Hits From The Beug is a modern day homage to the classic Cypress Hill track Hit’s From The Bong, laced with a legendary Australian spin… no we’re not talking about a jail mix.

The new track is produced by Adam Koots and has been released as a free promo track. This is the first of many tracks we expect from the Beugs Brothers outfit with a full length album already in the works. We are loving everything about this project already, including the amazing artwork as featured above. We don’t have any further information to share at this time but we’ll be sure to share it as soon as we do.

Released via Pang Productions, a stalwart of the local Hip Hop scene, Hits From The Beug is available now here.

Baker Boy Releases New Video For Single ‘Move’

Baker Boy might be self-isolating like all of us, but recently the hip-hop artist has brought his A- game energy to his new video ‘Move’, certain to get you off your ISO couch. The video premiered on YouTube with Danzal (aka Baker Boy) interacting with his fans online as the video was viewed for its first time.

Baker Boy’s first release of the year is dedicated to his partner, a tribute to the strong women in Baker Boy’s life and those who raised him and for the video, it was important for Danzal that a strong female team worked with him on the 90’s feel clip.

Baker Boy says, “Move was a really fun video to make, it had such a chilled vibe and a really great team! One of the main things I wanted was to have a strong female team around the video, I was lucky to work with Freya Esders as the Director and I collaborated with Aurie Indianna again on the Creative Direction and Styling which is always a fun process. We had a mostly female team the whole way through this clip form Freya and Aurie, to the dance Choreographer, Hair and Make Up Artist to the editor.”

Shooting on film, and getting back to more rustic film making approach didn’t come without its difficulties, shot in early March, the film got delayed while processing in New York due to Covid-19 restrictions and postal delays but Baker Boy feels it was well worth the wait; ‘It was great process, it got slowed down a bit getting the film scanned in New York during a global pandemic, but it all came together, and it really nailed the vibe and direction I have been trying to send the Baker Boy project in.”

Creative Director and Stylist Aurie Indianna recalls where the inspiration came for the new video, “Danzal was keen on following the love song story line, so we worked together to kind of recreate some of our early memories as a couple, and keep it light and fun, with lots of energy! We knew right from the start that we wanted to shoot on film and create almost a retrospective feel to the clip. This really triggered the idea for the 90’s / millennium references but then playing with that through kitschy moments like Danzal spinning on the couch while FaceTiming.”

Rapping in his native language of Yolngu Matha and English, ‘Move’ was produced by Willie Tafa (Ariana Grande, Ella Mai) and mixer Andrei Eremin.

Lives have been lost. So many homes incinerated

Lives have been lost. So many homes incinerated. 😞

Environmental disasters are abstract until your family and friends are being evacuated and ash is falling from the sky. My heart is in the Blue Mountains as one of the biggest megafires on record bears down. But it’s also with all of NSW, from the North to the Central and South Coasts. We’ve all been burning and breathing hazardous smoke for a month now.

And SA… We’re watching those flames roar so close to your streets and homes. Terrifying.

Smoke had drifted 1000kms from NSW bushfires to hit Melbourne. What the hell. Memories of terrible Victorian fires must hang heavy and the threat is rising. The whole country is experiencing record temperatures and we’re seeing heatmaps of the whole country inked deep red.

Crazy to think about the courage and sacrifice of all the fire services standing between us and the burning chaos. It may be a job or a personal commitment but the levels of crazybrave that you’d need to stare it down and wade into the smoke is so deeply, profoundly appreciated. I read reports of RFS workers queuing up at Bunnings and paying for fire fighting gear out of their own pocket. Unfathomable that our gov’t seem so completely out of step with circumstances on the ground. Beyond appalled. And the worst seems yet to come, today is dangerous.

The environment should never have been an ideological battleground for humans to have a culture war. For too long we’ve been buried in debates about what is real rather than getting on with preparing for everyone’s future. It takes my breath away how casual govt has been these last few weeks and these things are clearly connected.

It’s a hard time for a lot of ppl on the eve of christmas.

It’s a good time to be with people you love.

Hoping you see this through 👊🏻💜
