Southern Comfort today announces the return of Southern Sounds, an all-day cultural celebration of everything New Orleans (NOLA), bringing artists from Australia and NOLA together for a true dose of Southern Hospitality.
Hitting Waterloo’s Commune on Saturday December 8, Southern Sounds will shine a light on the creative spirit, musical heritage and spontaneity of NOLA’s famed streets – delivering two stages of hip-hop, bounce, big band and soul from REMI featuring their full all-star band, bounce pioneer Sissy Nobby (USA), neo-soul queen-in-waiting Kaiit and more, alongside NOLA-inspired eats and the bespoke taste of Southern Comfort Black.
Commune’s laneway will be turned into a NOLA-style block party, featuring New Orleans-based bounce pioneer and rapper Sissy Nobby alongside fiery back-to-back Southern rap and bounce sets from homegrown DJs Levins, Goodgod’s Jimmy Sing, DJ Sezzo, Larrie and Dezzy D. Sissy Nobby’s wild performance and raps woven across electro and bounce, embrace inclusivity and individuality, making him a special, not-to-be-missed guest of Southern Sounds.
Step inside the French Quarter, jazz-bar-inspired space to witness some of Australia’s finest musicians drawing contemporary influences from NOLA’s classic jazz and soul scenes. In the spirit of collaboration, see sets from hip-hop royalty REMI and their full band, alongside Melbourne’s upcoming neo-soul star Kaiit. Joining them, is multi-instrumentalist and self-directed creative Milan Ring, as well as Sydney’s favourite End Notes Big Band. Remi Kolawole and his musical collaborator Sensible J are Australian Music Prize winners and recently worked with Slum Village alumni Black Milk and New Zealand’s Raiza Biza on their forthcoming Black Hole Sun EP, while Papua New Guinea-born, Melbourne-based artist, Kaiit has been named the baby of Jill Scott and Erykah Badu by Jill Scott herself and has sold out shows across the country on her Live From Her Room EP tour.
A new whiskey-forward expression of an all-time classic, Southern Comfort Black will be served as a range of different cocktails by local Sydney bar heroes Earl’s Juke Joint. Digging deep into their Louisiana influences, taste Earl’s fun new twists on the inimitable taste of Southern Comfort with their slushies and surprise creations. Keeping bellies full, Sydney’s favourite fried chicken spot Butter will serve a specially crafted Southern Comfort menu from head chef Julian Cincotta, while Southern Soul pay homage to the South with their locally loved, home-style vegan offerings.
Inspired by freedom of expression, inclusivity, warmth of southern hospitality, Southern Sounds celebrates all things New Orleans. On December 8, witness one of NOLA’s founding icons of bounce, alongside Australia’s favourite musicians, restaurateurs and drink connoisseurs pay homage to the heritage taste of Southern Comfort and the newest member of the family, Southern Comfort Black.

The wait is finally over! Eminem will grace our shores for four massive Australian stadium shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and for the very first time Perth in February 2019. Eminem will also travel to New Zealand performing for the first ever in Wellington in March 2019 – presented by TEG DAINTY.
Eminem’s fiercely loyal Australian fanbase has been willing for tour dates to be added in this territory, constantly spinning the rumour mill into overdrive, and now their prayers have been answered: the rap god is on his way, special guests will be announced soon and join the line-up for this second instalment of the RAPTURE 2019 stadium tour.

Talented LA singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko has made her way down to New Zealand and Australia this week for a string of major shows. This week Strange Music Inc’s Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko make their way to Australia yet again for a string of shows across all major capital cities. Just last week both of their New Zealand shows were sold out in advance, highlighting just how popular Tech has remained throughout the years internationally.
Tech N9ne is widely ranked as one the most successful independent hip-hop artist in the world and has had his unique brand of music attached to numerous video games, movies and TV shows over the past two decades with Strange Music Inc. He most recently released his 20th solo studio album entitled Planet, featuring the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Snow Tha Product, Krizz Kaliko, and Jordan Omley. Planet not only topped the US Independent Album charts but also impressively charted on the wider Billboard charts, proving that his fan base remains strong.
Immediately following their Australian tour, Tech and Krizz make their way to Hawaii before they both embark on their extensive “Independent Grind 2018” tour with Futuristic, Dizzy Wright and Mackenzie Nicole (selected dates). The 49-date tour starts October 6 and runs almost back-to-back throughout America until its culmination on December 1. Tech may have announced plans for retiring in the coming years, but he certainly shows no signs of slowing up as he continues his jam-packed touring schedule which is almost second to none with well over 120+ shows this year alone. Bow Wow has previously toured Australia on multiple occasions including in 2017, 2015, 2012 and in 2011 (w/ Snoop Dogg, The Game, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, DJ Nino Brown, Fat Joe plus more for the Supafest concert to ur).
