Snoee Badman Releases his Debut Mixtape #3ALLMYTEAM & “On The Map” Video

Today Sydney drill rapper Snoee Badman shares his debut mixtape #3badman produced by Sydney-based producer Utility out now on Trackwork. This mixtape presents 7 unique, drill-inspired tracks that express stories of violence and the realities of incarceration.

Interludes blend calls to free his associates, and scenes from Dragon Ball Z on a distant TV that segway into murderous anthems. #3Badman sets a new bench-mark for Australian drill that hits different, and given the physical constraints around this project Badman & Utility prove that results that are actually interesting and new come from resourcefulness, and working with what you can.

The first singles from this project ‘On The Map’ and ‘#3allmyteam’ were both premiered on Triple J’s ‘The Hip Hop Show’ with Hau Latukefu, gaining extensive air-play on FBi Radio.

Badman & Utility have also embarked on presenting an animated mini-series based around selected tracks to celebrate and run alongside the #3badman mixtape. In a collaboration between Trackwork, AVTV, and animator Kyan Woodpower they released the first episode #3allmyteam in early May, segwaying into today’s action packed animation premiere ‘On The Map’. Ep 2. ‘On The Map’ is a journey of joints rolled on private jets, of infra-red car chases, and drilling in audi’s through the lens of Google Street View.

Snoee Badman has been penning rhymes for well over a decade, first dabbling in hip-hop style music to now owning his own sound of what we’ve come to call Australian drill music. Although Snoee has been incarcerated since 2011 and is due for release in November 2021, this hasn’t slowed down his process to record music and build up hype around himself in the Australian rap music scene.

Utility is a Sydney-based producer known for productions that are icy, and hard-hitting. His trademark  percussive style has been the backbone for tracks with the likes of HK x Rick, MA Rated, KDM On The Track, Lil Jaye & Eco$ystem and US artists El Plaga (LA) and DZ (Baltimore). Utility Regularly produces projects for Sydney-based freestyle channel ‘AVTV’ and in October 2019 established Trackwork, a platform to curate and put out unique, project-specific releases. Trackwork’s first release was Indigenous rapper T Breezy’s first release ‘2360’ featuring singles ‘Posted’ and ‘Origami’ gaining rotation on FBi Radio. Snoee Badman’s #3badman mixtape is the second release through this platform.

They’ll get shocked when I peek at you” – CG Fez

Western Sydney artist CG Fez has recently released his debut single, ‘Take 1’ after being signed to Hauie Beasts label ‘Forever Ever’.

“What captivated me about [CG Fez] was his wordplay, bars, storytelling, but most importantly, the conviction in which he delivers it all, and his willingness to listen and learn,” – Hau Lakutefu

Here’s what CG Fex had to say about the signing;

“When your dream and life goal correlates, a part of me feels as if the world conspires for it to happen. Music is my love, and to bring a contrast to the world is my goal. So being able to team up with the family at Forever Ever and the crew at Sony only felt right.

“Which leads me to ‘Take 1’. It’s raw and gritty, the same texture we have in our lives out in the west. Which is why I think it’s the perfect kick start to my journey.”

The new track is an absolute grunter, it’s a tasty first single for everyone to sink their teeth into. Teaming up with i.amsolo who mixed, produced and mastered Take 1, is an exciting introduction for hungry rapper ready to take on the scene. 6LACK Returns With Powerfully Personal “ATL Freestyle”

After a steady stream of guest features that spanned the globe including “Imported” with Jessie Reyez, “Crowded Room” with Selena Gomez, and “4AM” alongside Rema, Tion Wayne, and Manny Norté, 6LACK (LVRN/Interscope Records) releases “ATL Freestyle.”

The Fwdslxsh and Gravez-produced beat contains somber guitar chords that never seem to resolve, which feeds perfectly into the subject matter at hand. While 6LACK looks back at eating wings and listening to Gucci Mane and putting in time in the studio to make enough money and vacation with his daughter in a nice, rural area, he also leaves the song as an open ended journal entry. His future is left for only him to write.

The new song is also a love letter to his hometown of Atlanta, referencing other artists like Skooly and the venue Tabernacle. He also penned a personal letter to his fans addressing the release of this song in such a sensitive time in the country regarding police brutality. You can read his open letter HERE and listen to “ATL Freestyle” below.

And for the Day 1’s, or Day 6’s, 6LACK is treating them to snippets of unreleased music, the East Atlanta Love Letter movie that he premiered at his album release event at Starlight Drive-In Theatre in East Atlanta, never before seen photos, and more. All of that can be found in the 6LACKBOX. It will also contain some content leading up to his upcoming third studio album. Check out the 6LACKBOX HERE.

Sophiegrophy drops her debut EP, “BOLD”.

Created alongside producer Jia Lih, the production wizard responsible for Troy Sivan’s multi platinum “Blue Neighbourhood” release including the worldwide hit “Youth’, (as well as a cuts for Trevor Daniels, Meg Mac and more), BOLD pushes the Nigerian born, New Zealand raised artist creatively into uncharted waters with a combination of Afro Beat, Trap and Southern Rap, Hyphy, Nineties West Coast 90s Rap & RnB, and even explorations into the realms of Vogue music and Hyper Pop.

Heralding the culmination of a full speed year of collaborations and live appearances, BOLD finds Sophiegrophy gliding between introspective and dark atmospheres, or moving into angular and abrasive territory while still allowing room to get lit in the clubs. Tracks including “Boii”, “Evol” and “American Honey” showcases not only Sophiegrophy’s comfortable capabilities in the rap game, but also her ability to throw down on a melodic hook, while “Shake” and “Is It” keep pulses racing. Sophiegrophy “BOLD” is a diverse collection of music from Australia’s most unique hip hop artist.

In Sophiegrophy’s own words: “The BOLD ep is all about expanding myself as an artist through the exploration of different genres and sounds while still being true to myself. Diversity is everything to me and since I appreciate all types of sounds, I wanted to challenge myself and take risks. Being static is just not an option.”

Having recently signed with Australia’s renowned MAKER Agency for bookings (Tame Impala, What So Not), keep your eyes and ears peeled for Sophiegrophy as she promises to make an indelible mark on the international Hip Hop & Club world once the live circuit restarts in late 2020.

Matthew Craig Returns With Existential R&B Jam ‘Plug All Night’

It’s been four years since Melbourne based recording artist Matthew Craig released his debut single ‘Ivory’. In that time the label manager for R.E.A.L Music has slipped into a behind-the-scenes role overseeing careers including Junor and Kae The Goat, however he’s returned in 2020 with a new Jazz-infused late night R&B jam Plug All Night.

As hip-hop culture has exploded in recent years, we’ve seen the emergence of new fusion forms of the genre and now Matthew Craig introduces us to a new twist incorporating Jazz. While traditionally Jazz/Rap fusions have involved rhymes over Jazz beats, this new sub-genre flips the formula; utilising Jazz melodies in the likes of Sammy Davis Jr or Frank Sinatra, over modern 808 kicks and hi-hats from Sydney based producer Delipres (Coast & Ocean, Imbi The Girl)

“It’s a song about searching for answers. About searching for hope in a world which seems more chaotic than ever. I like to talk about smoking as a metaphor for knowledge. Just inhaling more wisdom with each new experience…”

Plug All Night comes with a late-night drive visualiser and is promised to be the first single from the forthcoming “Smoke Bigger” EP by Matthew Craig and Delipres. The project is set to continue the vocalist’s search for knowledge and guidance exploring sounds ranging from jazz, through to R&B and reggae. The 5 track EP is due for release later this year via R.E.A.L Music.

Phi11a Links With U.S. Rapper, Trippie Redd for ‘Witness’

Last year Sydney rapper Phi11a announced himself with some of the most versatile flows and collaborations seen by an upcoming Australian rapper. Now with the release of his new track, ‘Witness feat. Trippie Redd’, he’s cementing himself as one of the most important up and comers in the country.

A collaboration with emo-trap rapper Trippie Redd was what Phi11a pictured in his mind back in 2018 when he started recording the demo with the barest of equipment – a $300 mic in a home studio based out in Western Sydney.

“It’s crazy. When I originally started working on this song, I thought of either Trippie or Young Thug for the feature (if there’d be one). So even from the start I feel like the song had his energy in it.”

Trippie in the end was the only artist who could bring what was needed for this hazy lo-fi track. “He understood the spookiness and gloom within the song, but also its explosive potential. His verse is crazy. It’s straight from the playbook of my favourite Trippie era.”

Witness follows Phi11a’s 2019 releases; his debut single ‘Overdose’ and ‘Sad Cowboy Shit’, a 4-track surprise mixtape, produced by US producer, Jimmy Duval (XXXTentacion, Lil Pump, Ski Mask the Slump God and Rich The Kid). For ‘Overdose’ the inner west Sydney local worked with Atlanta producer Supah Mario (Drake, Young Thug) and received shout outs by the likes of D12 and DMX.

Phi11a has also just released his new video for “Witness ft. Trippie Redd.” The glitchy, lofi video was edited by local up-and-coming Sydney director, Murli Dhir, with additional graphics being supplied by BabyCq22.
