Frontier Touring and Illusive Presents are thrilled to confirm two debut Australian performances for purveyors in futuristic R&B, THEY. Drew Love and Dante Jones will be dropping into Howler in Melbourne on Thursday 11 October and Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney on Wednesday 17 October while touring the country in support of 6LACK. Joining THEY. in Sydney and Melbourne will be 14 year old rap prodigy The Kid LAROI.

In 2017, THEY. flipped R&B on its axis and spun the genre around 360 degrees with a little grunge, electronic, and pop. As a result, their full-length debut, Nü Religion: HYENA (out now through Mind of a Genius/Warner Bros. Records) incited widespread critical praise around the world, with singles ‘U-RITE’ and ‘Dante’s Creek’ cracking 12 million streams each on Spotify.

Along the way, they’ve toured with everyone from PARTYNEXTDOOR and Jeremih to Bryson Tiller, and delivered a standout show at Coachella 2018 converting audiences to their Nü Religion in 2018 and beyond. Catch their live performance of ‘Dante’s Creek’ performed earlier this year on Jimmy Kimmel Live below to see the magic.

Confirmed to support, The Kid LAROI will be opening up the shows with his smooth as silk tracks from his freshly released EP 14 With A Dream. Hailed by some as a prodigy, this 14 year old is worth showing up early for.

They’ve set the Northern Hemisphere on fire, now it’s our turn to be introduced to one of R&Bs most exciting acts. Act quickly to avoid disappointment!

FOMO Unveils Massive 2019 Line-Up With Nicki Minaj, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Pump, Carmouflage Rose + More

Returning To Brisbane, Adelaide & Sydney & For The First Time Bringing The Full Festival To Melbourne

Australia’s mainstay summer festival FOMO returns this January, today announcing a colossal line-up of artists leading the forefront in hip-hop and electronic music, all with zero timetable clashes. After selling out all dates, Melbourne’s FOMO By Night and every sideshow in 2018, the one-stage event returns in 2019 for their biggest tour to date, and for the first time offers a full-day instalment in the heart of Melbourne.

A soaring reputation for curating unmissable line-ups starring local and international talent, FOMO promises maximum fun in 2019, with megastar MC Nicki Minaj leading the charge on her first ever Australian festival appearance. Needing no introduction, Minaj is one of the world’s most influential hip-hop artists, consistently storming world music charts and collecting Billboard Music Awards and BET Awards, alongside numerous Grammy Award nominations. Fronting the FOMO trail, the queen of rap with an undeniable legacy is set to deliver hits past and present, like “Bed” feat. Ariana Grandeand “Chun-Li” off this year’s hugely received Queen album.

Joining Minaj is Mississippi hip-hop duo, Rae Sremmurd aka beloved brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi. Igniting the FOMO stage with their multi-platinum releases “Black Beatles”“No Type”, and critically acclaimed triple album SR3MM, the duo will inject chaotic energy into every set. Continuing the rollout of international acts you’ve been dying to see, Lil Pump will bring his charismatic repertoire to Australian fans for the very first time. Since the age of 16, the South Florida artist has torn through the hip-hop landscape, amassing over 2 billion streams and counting for releases like “Gucci Gang”“Flex Like Ouu” and “Esskeetit”. With his new album Harvard Dropout set for release on September 14, audiences won’t have to wait long for the effervescent rapper to bring it to the live stage.

Guernsey-born producer Mura Masa is joining the pack for 2019, delivering his tropical-inflected house and beat-heavy hits to FOMO. Making his mark on 2018 with standalone single “Move Me” and featuring on the catchiest disco tune of the year, “Til The World Falls” with Nile Rodgers, Chic and Nao, Mura Masa will have audiences in a dance induced state. Featuring a set of world-class Grammy-nominated collaborations, including the A$AP Rocky featured “Love$ick”, “Firefly” and “What If I Go?”, the producer and multi-instrumentalist will bring his intricate brand of hip-hop / electronica to adoring fans. The utterly individual, Kali Uchis will be heading down under for her Australian debut at FOMO, hot on the release of her triple j Feature Album Isolation. Fearlessly creative in her artistry, Kali’s guest features prior to Isolation have all seen Grammy nominations, including collaborations with Gorillaz and Tyler The Creator, who returned the favour on her track “After The Storm”

Ahead of his forthcoming debut album and adding to the jaw-dropping line-up is Dutch electronic connoisseur San Holo, whose experimental finesse joins Australian dance music royalty, Anna Lunoe. Lunoe will return from her current Los Angeles base – where she runs her own label, is a regular host on Beats 1 Radio & continuously releases her work on coveted labels Mad Decent and OWSLA. Also welcomed to the FOMO family in 2019, is the avant-garde and unrestrained sound design of Glaswegian producer SOPHIE following her Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides album release earlier this year, and London’s Cosha (formerly Bonzai) with her unmissable sound.

Representing the local rota of talent, is the hip-hop mastery of Zimbabwe-Australian beat-maker Carmouflage Rose, Newcastle prodigy turned national crowd favourite Just A Gent, and Melbourne DJ queen MIMI, each bringing an infectious on-stage fervour. Always a proud supporter of Australia’s up-and-coming talent, FOMO’s partnership with triple j Unearthed makes a much-anticipated return, inviting four different artists per city to join the 2019 tour.

FOMO not only brings a one-day festival to four cities this year, but will continue to support music charity Heaps Decent alongside a new partnership with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, donating one dollar for every online ticket sold to their powerful causes. Heaps Decent have worked with young people across Australia’s metropolitan, regional and remote areas, providing quality music and art workshops to build positive stories, connections and community engagement through music production, recording and multimedia visual arts. The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre works tirelessly to provide aid and advocacy for refugees and people seeking asylum, maximising their wellbeing through food, education, healthcare, housing and employment support. As an independent human rights organisation, they also provide legal aid and advocate for social change.

FOMO remains dedicated to keeping ticket prices at an affordable cost for attendees. Returning in 2019 will be a Payment Plan option, available for festival goers in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne who’d like to contribute monthly instalments to their ticket cost. This year, FOMO will also launch an official resale portal and suppress ticket delivery to a later date post-purchase, ensuring fans and supporters can safely sell and purchase re-homed tickets.

On Saturday January 5, the FOMO tour will kick off where it all began at Brisbane’s Riverstage, before venturing south to Adelaide’s Elder Park on Sunday January 6. The festival will then voyage to Parramatta Park’s natural amphitheatre on Saturday January 12, ahead of a spectacular inaugural closing date in Melbourne, seeing ticket-holders grace the outdoor Flemington Racecourse on Sunday, January 13.

Expanding to other cities from a one-night dance party in Melbourne, FOMO By Night will make a welcomed return in 2019 to new soon-to-be-revealed cities, while FOMO Eats will share a delectable offering of locally sourced produce and beverages at all shows from some of Australia’s greatest makers. Stay across further updates as FOMO readies itself for Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne early next year, but for now, don’t sleep on scoring the ticket of the summer. For your only chance to score the cheapest FOMO19 tickets, sign up for the exclusive FOMO pre-sale before Tuesday September 4 at 8PM local time. Pre-sale access kicks off at 10AM local time Wednesday Septemberbefore general on-sale at 10AM local time Thursday September 6.

Following on from his most recent single ‘Trials N Tribulations’ which was lifted from the ‘Hold The Flag LP’. 19 year old rapper on the rise Krown has just released the visuals to his second single in ‘Let Us Live’.

Originally from South Sudan Krown now resides in Melbourne. In 2017 he stepped to the plate releasing an EP appropriately titled ‘Wake Em Up,’ a project which encapsulated the experiences of young Africans living in the western world.

Krown continues speaking his truth on ‘Let Us Live’, sharing his feelings on the recent mainstream media reporting around the Sudanese community.  Let Us Live is a powerful example of how young emcees are reshaping discussions in the community. Krown is an important figure in this push and Hip Hop is the prefect platform to deliver that message.

EQUILIBRIUM marks the return of former Obese Records CEO and Gully Platoon MC Pegz and former Thundamentals producer Silent Titan.

The idea of EQUILIBRIUM on a personal, environmental, philosophical and political level are the albums main concepts. The ideas outlined are an attempt to give power back to the people, to make listeners think about their actions and highlight both achievements and mistakes the average person and ‘great’ people have made in the past and present. There is an element of hope in humanity, while outlining the devastating fact that most people on the planet are not doing enough to help our plight as a community.

Silent Titan and Pegz traveled across 3 continents to make EQUILIBRIUM. They were the outsiders, entering communities they were not familiar with. Their travel was research into how the rest of the world lives and feels towards their current environment. As well as being an insight into creating relationships with people who could relate to what they wanted to say with the project.

EQUILIBRIUM was inspired by the people who fight to be resistant and make sacrifices to better their living conditions for both themselves and the people around them. ‘Equilibrium’ will be available on vinyl and digital on October 5th.

Here is the first taste of the upcoming Pegz x Silent Titan album Equilibrium feat. Jace XL

After a successful run through the Australian series of The X-Factor, Lazy J took off with multiple releases building a solid Australian fan base. His feature on European superstar Faydee’s hit record ‘Laugh Till you Cry’ saw exposure to a new market, with the video exceeding over 60 million Youtube views, being the #1 record in multiple European countries 12 weeks straight.

However, after a few successful years throughout his late teens, J was involved in an incident that would set him back from creating music for a while.

In October 2012, Lazy J was involved in a brawl after a confrontation at his gig led to him being stabbed outside of a nightclub.  Since returning back to the music game in 2017, J has released a mixtape titled ‘Gone A Minute Too Long’, with the hit single Flatline being the first to receive a visual treatment. Now in 2018, Lazy J hasn’t wasted a minute. His latest track Make Money Not Friends features NZ artist Poetik and is produced by local producer DJ Sefru. It also features backing vocals by Sydney singer/songwriter Bea Moon. Check it out below.

A debut album is a momentous occasion, so it’s with great anticipation we reveal ‘Area Famous’ from B Wise, one of Australia’s most exciting new talents, set for release on Friday 14 September. You don’t need to understand the importance of Sydney’s South-West to appreciate the music of B Wise, but the neighbourhoods he grew up in shaped the artist you’re hearing.

The songs celebrate the suburban streets where fibro and brick are intermixed, kids in the front yard, cars on the lawn and the greatest social melting pot in Australia wakes up everyday and makes a go of it. Wise is a product of that multicultural spirit of respect and aspiration, and they’re found throughout his scintillating flows on ‘Area Famous’.

It’s been a hectic 10 months for the rapper, with the success of singles Feel Something and The Key, a 35 date national tour with Thundamentals, a show-stopping performance at Splendour in the Grass and a huge triple Like A Version appearance in June.

From the initial waves he created off the back of Prince Akeem, B Wise has continually delivered impactful songwriting and opened up a distinct lane in Australian music. It’s a lane that connects with young African youth as much as it does suburban triple j listeners. ‘Area Famous’ is the grand statement of an artist we’ve been waiting for, someone who doesn’t look or feel like anything we’ve heard before.

From the joy and energy of The Key to the collected confidence of Actin’ Different, or the rich storytelling on the Kaiit assisted Time, ‘Area Famous’ is a fierce body of work. It features production by beatsmiths on the cutting edge of their craft; from grammy nominated Uno Stereo to DOPAM!NE, Adit (Horrorshow), Willie Tafa, Juve and more.

With the announcement of his debut album dropping next month, B Wise will be celebrating with his first headline tour across Australia kicking off in October! Presented by triple j, Niche and Elefant Traks.

KIAN stepped into the spotlight with his killer chorus on Baker Boy’s debut track Cloud 9 back in May 2017. 16-year-old KIAN hails from the goldfield town of Castlemaine. A life surrounded by music, songwriters, and rappers – he’s no stranger to the inner workings of the music scene.

Since the age of two KIAN’s been travelling with his dad making music in remote Indigenous communities. It was at Beswick Community [NT] that KIAN met Baker Boy. Aged 13 & 17 the connection was instant. A few years on the crew were at a loose end and decided to create Cloud 9. KIAN stepped up to the microphone and delivered his killer hook smashing it out of the park. Inspired and encouraged by Baker Boy KIAN began focusing on his own songs.

Since that time he has been listed in triple j’s “best new music” [Feb 2018]. “Waiting” is the first song he wrote, and the second to be released after releasing his debut “Too Far Gone” with Vince the Kid earlier this year. Now KIAN has just been crowned the winner of this year’s triple j Unearthed High competition, stunning the judges with his song ‘Waiting’, an insightful slice of neo-soul expressing uncharted feelings.

KIAN is playing his first solo show later this month, performing with a four-piece band at Castlemaine’s Theatre Royale – the perfect prep for his BIGSOUND debut in Brisbane.

Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1 Touring Nationally In September – Tickets On Sale Now!

After reclaiming her throne as the Queen of Australian hip hop last week with the release of her new single ‘Flexin’’ feat. Duckwrth, Tkay Maidza is today kicking it up a gear with the release of the official video for ‘Flexin’,’ and the announcement of her brand-new EP, Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1–out August 31 via Dew Process / UMA.

The ‘Flexin’’ video, directed by Keenan MacWilliam was shot in London and features the ever-talented Tkay showing off her Rugby Union skills, along with some assistance from some local rugby players and cameos from her crew and Duckwrth himself, who brings his rock star swagger to the clip, helping Tkay to party hard in a bopping street rave.

Tkay, who before her career as a musician and a performer was actually a champion tennis player, shows she’s got as mad skills with an oval ball on the footy field as she ever did with a racquet. Her athleticism stands as a perfect complement to her epic performance on the mic on this ill new track, with a great assist from Duckwrth on the fly.

‘Flexin’ is an ode to being yourself and being unapologetic for it,” says Tkay. And what better way than to visually reinterpret that ideal than by featuring athletes who in the last few years have taken massive strides towards shrinking the equality gap between male and female athletes. ‘Flexin’’ premiered last month on triple j’s Drive show, where she also spoke to Veronica and Lewis about her upcoming appearance at the triple j’s One Night Stand event in St. Helens, Tasmania on September 1. She’ll be performing on a who’s who line-up of the Australian musical landscape there, alongside Vance Joy, Peking Duk, Middle Kids and Alex The Astronaut.

However, she’s now readying to take the world by storm with her brand-new new EP –Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1– as well as a string of national live dates that will see her performing both solo headline shows and festival appearances throughout the rest of the year. Since emerging from Adelaide in 2014, Tkay has gone on to be one of the most recognised names, faces and sounds in modern, Australian hip hop.

Her early releases instantly won her a record deal and a loyal following, and over that time she’s been on a total hot streak. She’s released massive singles like ‘M.O.B.’ (which went Gold in 2017) and ‘Simulation,’ dropped the critically acclaimed debut album TKAY; been nominated for an ARIA; and has pulled together a rolodex of collaborators that features some of the biggest names out there, including Run The Jewels’Killer Mike and French producer extraordinaire Martin Solveig.

She’s also firmly established herself as one of the few Australian hip hop artists who has proven to be popular overseas, having been nominated for a BET Award, performing at Governor’s Ball in NYC, appearing on French TV, and been part of an international advertising campaign for Mumm Champagne – alongside the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt. Her versatility as an artist doesn’t just start and stop with music either.

She recently co-hosted Channel [V]’s live coverage of Splendour In The Grass 2018, interviewing some of the biggest artists of the festival alongside Aussie rock icon, Adalita Srsen. However, it’s impossible to keep Tkay from performing to a big crowd, and she managed to find a mic and jump on stage to perform some surprise cameos with Dune Rats and Mallrat– adding even more evidence to the fact she’s one of the most talented entertainers out there. It’s an exciting time for a young artist when they really begin to trust in their talent and know they’re not going to run out of steam.

Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1 finds Tkay Maidza powering up to the next, brilliant phase of her career – or as she puts it best, “The old Tkay has grown, but it’s still lit.”
