Wifisfuneral teams up with Sydney producer Hydraulix on new single ‘Let Em Drip’

Acclaimed Sydney bass producer Hydraulix & Wiz Khalifa collaborator DJ Afterthought share their new single ‘Let Em Drip’ feat. wifisfuneral through Wakaan, the track showcases the refined production alongside the Bronx native wifisfuneral’s infectious raps.

This single marks the first collaboration from Hydraulix and Afterthought, combing bass synths with a hip hop structure, a factor which drew both producers to the project, Afterthought saying, “This tune really captures the perfect balance of two genres and makes it one”. Made across America and Australia, the track came together fairly quickly, Hydraulix saying,“We finished this track a while ago, i’ve been featuring it in most of my recent sets and it always gets an amazing response from the crowd.”

With over 130 million streams on Spotify alone, wifisfuneral has proven to be one of the hottest up and coming rappers in the game, bringing his infectious soundcloud rap to ‘Let Em Drip’. However this could be one of the last times we hear wifisfuneral rap on a track after he announced on Twitter earlier this month that he would be retiring from rap. In 2018, wifisfuneral was chosen as a member of the XXL Freshman Class, along with other emerging rappers, such as Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Pump, and JID.

‘Let Em Drip’ is Hydraulix’s fourth release for 2020, having spent the better half of his last year touring internationally on the back of a huge year of releases, taking on North America supporting Liquid Stranger and bookings at festivals like Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, Rampage Belgium and many more. His latest acclaimed releases ‘Spanner’, ‘Chopper’ and ‘Poor Connection’ have gone on to tick over hundreds of thousands of streams and being played in high profile sets around the world right now from Four Tet, Skrillex, Bassnectar, Rusko and more.

Some of his recent collaborations include Liquid Stranger, Moody Good, Phaseone and Ookay along with his 2019 attention grabbing EP’s Space Cadet and Crown Jewels, solo releases and remixes with Never Say Die, Disciple and Wakaan. More recently in 2020 he was featured with triple j for Mix Up Exclusive and his music was also a featured sync in Kipo and The Wonderbeasts for Netflix US.

Turning out his first release for 2020 with ‘Let Em Drip’, DJ Afterthought has worked and performed alongside some biggest names in the industry such as Wiz Khalifa, Zedd, Chainsmokers, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Mac Miller, Jeezy, Major Lazer, Mozzy, Gary Clark Jr., Lil Yachty, Migos, Post Malone, among many others. In more recent years his producer credits include the likes of Wiz Whalifa, Young Buck, Skepta, Quavo, Yung Lean, Mozzy and more, with over 11 million streams on Spotify alone.

‘Let Em Drip’ combines killer production with smooth slick verses to create the newest ear worm to invade your playlists.

Platterpush & Codeks (DUB Crew) Release ‘Hands Down’ feat. Dialectrix

The Dynamic Production Duo Return To The Scene Of The Crime With Their Former ‘Down Under Beats’ Counterpart Dialectrix, Bringing The Ruckus You’d Expect.

Platterpush and Codeks have been DJ’ing since the late 90’s, recording, performing and touring with numerous live outfits. Turntablism is an important aspect of their style which is evident in both of their live sets and releases. Platterpush and Codeks were the founding members and co-producers of Down Under Beats crew (Dialectrix, Joenew, Immune, 13th Son), a hip hop collective that toured extensively and released two albums in the mid 2000’s. Being ‘Unearthed’ by Triple J in 2004 raised the bands profile and saw them becoming one of the trailblazers of the emerging Australian Hip Hop genre.

The Producer/Dj duo have gone on to produce for many successful artists such as Thundamentals, Lotek & P.Smurf. The pair recently produced the majority of P.Smurf’s recent debut solo LP ‘Playin the Blues’. As well as continuing to write music together Platterpush & Codeks have also gone on to work on numerous other projects. Platterpush is now a member of the notorious Blue Mountains four-piece Otherside and features prominently on their two EP’s and recent 7” singles. Codeks has been busy recording and touring with his own band Bomb Threat who are currently working on their debut album.

‘Hands Down’ is the 2nd Single taken from Platterpush and Codeks’ debut production malbum ‘Planet of the Misfits’ due late 2020 on Scratches Records. The bold anthemic single features Melbourne-based wordsmith Dialectrix, who returns to the scene with a vengeance; giving fans a lyrical masterclass on why he is still one of the finest emcees in the country.

More than a decade after their crew (Down Under Beats) disbanded, the three artists have re-united to serve up a double-time tongue twisting banger. With a healthy dose of bravado Dialectrix asserts his continued lyrical prowess whilst making light of his professional stay at home dad status. Platterpush and Codeks provide a dramatic soundtrack, combining a dark orchestral sound-world with contemporary double- time grime influences.

Look out for the forthcoming production album from Platterpush & Codeks titled ‘Planet Of The Misfits’, featuring a vast array of guests, showcasing vocals from some of Hip Hop’s finest local and international artists.

We Talk To Lakshane Ahead Of The Release Of His Brand New Single ‘Reload’

After the release of his self produced EP ‘Come Alive’ which picked up nods from Spotify and even an exclusive segment on Beats1 radio, rapper/producer powerhouse Lakshane is back at it, announcing a brand new single, ‘Reload’ that will be out on all major platforms on the 29th of May.

‘Reload’, like the Melbourne rapper’s previous music, is for the hip hop lovers, boasting a vibrant chorus and lyrics full of bravado that captures the true essence of this upcoming Australian talent. The instrumentals were created by Perth producer FRAAN, which complement the upbeat and high octane feel of the overall song.

Reload is something I wanted to get off my chest. I feel like I allow a lot of people into my life without a wall and they take advantage of it or don’t reciprocate the love. Reload expresses my ability to reset and keep going despite these people and the other barriers I encounter

Australia’s Hip Hop scene is definitely in its International boom right now. Sound wise I feel like we still have to find what makes us unique instead of adopting or copying others, Youngn Lipz, Chillinit and The Kid Laroi definitely bringing that though. I hope we can move past the boom bap and onto something new. With R&B there’s a lot of artists killing it from AU who aren’t talked about like rappers. They’re actually putting up great numbers and doing big things. Let’s hope we can make Australia’s urban music industry more profitable for artists“.

You can pre-save the track ahead of it’s release to all platforms here: https://ffm.to/50nxvpm.ofp

Apollo Brown & Che’ Noir Announce New Album ‘As God Intended’

Buffalo & Detroit are America’s broken dream. They are once thriving cities, now known for frigid temperatures and violent crime. The cities were birthed in a different era, forged in fire, built of cold steel.

It follows that the rawest hip hop in recent memory has bled from these two regions. No two artists exemplify this hard truth more than legendary Detroit producer Apollo Brown and Buffalo’s maverick emcee Che’ Noir. The two artists came together to create a sound as natural as calm after the storm.

The soulful, head-nodding production of Apollo Brown has been a staple called on by some of the greatest to ever do it. From Ghostface Killah to Danny Brown, and from Freddie Gibbs to Chance the Rapper, Apollo Brown’s signature style has become an iconic staple of the culture.

Meanwhile, Che’ Noir has stepped onto the scene as smoothly as any double dutch veteran. Having already worked alongside Benny The Butcher, Kool G Rap, and Fred The Godson, she has emerged as one of the most extraordinary New York talents heard in years.

The pair’s new album, “As God Intended”, drifts up and Apollo Brown & Che’ Noir own city streets and offers a glimpse behind closed doors, telling the stories of gunshots, missing fathers, & playing the system.

The new album from Apollo Brown & Che’ Noir features Skyzoo, Blakk Soul, Planet Asia, Ty Farris, and Black Thought. Coming July 10th on Mello Music Group, it is exactly “As God Intended.”

Hilltop Hoods Release Fundraising Song ‘I’m Good?’ From Isolation

Released last week, HILLTOP HOODS have written a song from, and about isolation titled ‘I’M GOOD?’, with proceeds from the track going to the SUPPORT ACT ‘Roadies (Crew) Fund’. The band had been in lockdown writing their new album but decided to take a break and work on something that would help road and support crew – including those whose livelihoods have been devastated by the impact of COVID-19.

‘I’M GOOD?’ is available on all digital platforms now.  Proceeds from the artist, record label and publisher royalties from streams and downloads of ‘I’M GOOD?’ will go directly to SUPPORT ACT ‘Roadies (Crew) Fund’. Additionally, Island Records/Universal Music Australia, Sony/ATV Music Publishing (Australia) Pty Ltd, Blue Max Music, and Media Arts Lawyers are chipping in $2,500 each to kick off the fundraising.

On the production side of things, the band has enlisted SIXFOUR (Paul and John Bartlett) to produce, Plutonic Lab (Leigh Ryan) to mix and Alex Mader of Disk Edits to master the track.

Regarding the release of the song, the band had this to say: It’s a very dark time at the moment, so we wanted to make something light-hearted, we’re hoping that the song might give someone a laugh and maybe lift their spirits. But ultimately what we want to do is raise money for the roadies and associated support crew – including those who have lost their livelihoods due to this pandemic.’ – Hilltop Hoods
