Manchester MC Aitch Drops New Single ‘Raw’ 🥩

After a dormant few months, Mancunian rap powerhouse Aitch has floored fans with impactful new offering ‘Raw’. The freestyle lands in the wake of his chart-topping collaborative single ‘Rain’ with AJ Tracey x Tay Keith – which is still in the UK Top 20 weeks later and on the verge of platinum status. Aitch will perform the track this weekend at BBC Radio 1’s first virtual Big Weekend, featuring sets from YUNGBLUD, Rex Orange County, HAIM and more.

A reminder of Aitch’s lyrical prowess and versatility, ‘Raw’ sees the 20-year-old talent spitting his way through a declaration of confidence and truth – a recap of his success so far. The single, produced by Whyjay and Sangy, is accompanied by a dark and moody visual (directed by KC Locke) – watch below. It’s a mission statement from the young rapper, who is hailed one of the most exciting talents in the UK right now: “Young Aitch, Big Boss, I’m The Captain.”

Adapting his trademark flow to any beat, Aitch is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories of the last year. Covering The Guardian Guide last month, and garnering support from the likes of NME, GQ, Vogue, Clash and beyond, Aitch is on the rise – even Stormzy and Ed Sheeran are fans. Debut offering ‘Straight Rhymez’ has garnered more than 19 million views, credited as the video that propelled the then-teenage Aitch, into the limelight.

Since then, Aitch has gone on to make his mark globally – he is YouTube’s ‘Artist On The Rise’, has a Brit Award nomination under his belt and a Global Award win for ‘Best New Artist’. His video for single ‘Taste (Make It Shake)’ has accrued 28M views, and at one point he even featured on four songs in the UK Official Chart at one time. A keen collaborator and integral part of the UK Rap Scene, Aitch has seen huge success with his features on Young T and Bugsey ‘Strike Me A Pose’, Russ x Tion Wayne ‘Kesha Becky (Remix)’, Ed Sheeran ‘Take Me Back To London’ and more recently, alongside DigDat on ‘Ei8ht Mile’.

Nike and NZ choreographer Parris Goebel create LIVE dance workshop

Live dance workshop with ReQuest Dance Crew tonight from 6-7pm AEST

Hosted on ReQuest’s Instagram, the all-female hip-hop dance crew, who have worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna, will take you through a live, high energy Nike dance workshop for all ability levels.

Taking a break from the world stage, the IG LIVE Nike dance workshop will be led by ReQuest members Corbyn Taulealea Huch, Ling Zhang and Kirsten Dogden, and is created especially for the living room, giving us a new and fun way to move while we continue to stay at home.

This dance workshop is the latest initiative in You Can’t Stop Us, Nike’s mission to provide all athletes* with the tools, motivation and affirmation to help fuel physical and mental health.

The IG LIVE Nike dance workshop will be led by ReQuest members Corbyn Taulealea Huch, Ling Zhang and Kirsten Dogden, all featured in the video.

Speaking about the Nike dance workshop, Corbyn said:

“It has been super inspiring to see how people have continued to keep active and positive while at home over these past months. Like us, Nike are encouraging people to keep moving, and so we are very excited to be collaborating on this together.”

“The ReQuest Crew and I want to empower girls and women to move, and to feel confident about themselves when they do it! We want to show how dance is a fantastic outlet for movement and self-expression. During this difficult time, virtual experiences like this can also help us stay connected and positive. This class is such a great opportunity for us to bring people together and create a community to uplift and support one another.

“We will be teaching a fun and feminine Dancehall routine, one of ReQuest’s signature styles. We will be hitting all the beats in the music and tapping into the lyrics, while having lots of fun. This class is not about getting every step right, it’s about taking that time to let go, move and enjoy yourself. Tune in this Friday to our Instagram to join us!”

The Nike dance workshop follows previous collaborations with the brand including Parris’ Force is Female workshop in Melbourne in 2018, which saw Parris mentor girls and young women through dance, and ReQuest Dance Crew’s launch of the Nike Melbourne Central store.

This dance workshop is the latest initiative in You Can’t Stop Us, Nike’s mission to provide all athletes* with the tools, motivation and affirmation to help fuel physical and mental health.

Hooligan Hefs Releases New Video ‘Paper Route’

tell em I’m doing eetswa !!

Doonside rapper, Hooligan Hefs aka ‘Mr ShootNScore’ continues his upwards trend with his latest effort in Paper Route. Hefs supreme bravado, and charismatic energy is unstoppable on this one. The new single follows on from the monster release of F.A.M.E feat. Masi Rooc, Hooliganskinny, and Hooks back in February.

The new track has just dropped alongside a brand new film clip, directed and edited by Kreezy Visions. Hefs isn’t going without on this one, flaunting a luxurious lifestyle of high class jewellery and expensive cars. This a long way from the days of rapping out the front of IGA.

My canine’s look real icy//
My merc is looking real shiny//
Just got a blue tick but that don’t mean shit I was cert in my air max 90’s
//

We expect that Hooligan Hefs is in the midst of working on a a debut full length project or EP. We will bring you more info on that one when we have it. Check out the new track above.

triple j and Hobba and Hing gave me 24 hours to write a song about missing parmas at the pub.

triple j and Hobba and Hing gave me 24 hours to write a song about missing parmas at the pub. I only write about real life, so this was not hard. ‘Parmas in June’ coming 430pm today on triple j. It’s the Aussie pub rock inspired isolation tune you didn’t know you needed, but you definitely do. Promise it’s at least as good as this art my manager just made for it. Yes, that is what it’s called.

Phi11a Links With U.S. Rapper, Trippie Redd for ‘Witness’

Last year Sydney rapper Phi11a announced himself with some of the most versatile flows and collaborations seen by an upcoming Australian rapper. Now with the release of his new track, ‘Witness feat. Trippie Redd’, he’s cementing himself as one of the most important up and comers in the country.

A collaboration with emo-trap rapper Trippie Redd was what Phi11a pictured in his mind back in 2018 when he started recording the demo with the barest of equipment – a $300 mic in a home studio based out in Western Sydney.

“It’s crazy. When I originally started working on this song, I thought of either Trippie or Young Thug for the feature (if there’d be one). So even from the start I feel like the song had his energy in it.”

Trippie in the end was the only artist who could bring what was needed for this hazy lo-fi track. “He understood the spookiness and gloom within the song, but also its explosive potential. His verse is crazy. It’s straight from the playbook of my favourite Trippie era.”

Witness follows Phi11a’s 2019 releases; his debut single ‘Overdose’ and ‘Sad Cowboy Shit’, a 4-track surprise mixtape, produced by US producer, Jimmy Duval (XXXTentacion, Lil Pump, Ski Mask the Slump God and Rich The Kid). For ‘Overdose’ the inner west Sydney local worked with Atlanta producer Supah Mario (Drake, Young Thug) and received shout outs by the likes of D12 and DMX.

Phi11a has also just released his new video for “Witness ft. Trippie Redd.” The glitchy, lofi video was edited by local up-and-coming Sydney director, Murli Dhir, with additional graphics being supplied by BabyCq22.
