Light hearted, homegrown and vibe friendly, Freesouls stay true to their music as it pays homage to their friends and family.

The video orchestrates that feeling you get when you just want to kiss your mum and say thanks after 3 beers. Dancing for a good time, drinking with your mates and getting up to date with happiness. Something we can all agree we have missed more than anything. The clip highlights what we are so eager to be a part of once again, making it so relatable.

From the moment it launches, you are instantly drawn in by the melodic hook that quickly paints a picture of gratitude of which is the group’s intention with ‘Living Legend“. World class production combined with varied but effortless vocals, makes for a great visual and a wave of nostalgia.

Butter X A$AP Ferg X OneFour X Tapastry X Julian Cincotta “Eat It Again”

Ready for the line up of a lifetime?

Well here it is! Before we get into the details, this line up has come together due to a recognition of the need to do more in helping create support systems and new opportunities for kids at risk and kids in the justice system. Particularly those from aboriginal and pacific islander communities, who are over represented in the justice system.

Butter, by way of Executive Chef Julian Cincotta, in collaboration with A$AP Ferg and OneFour have released a new sandwich in line with the recent OneFour track featuring A$AP Ferg – “Say It Again”.

The sandwich, developed by Butter’s Executive Chef, Julian Cincotta (@JulianVCincotta), is the OneFourFerg Burg – Butter’s first crispy fish fillet, with a Japanese boiled-egg and fermented garlic tartar sauce, tomato and lettuce on a steamed milk bun. Believe us, it is so good you will want to eat it again! But more importantly all profits from the sale of the OneFourFerg Burg will be donated by Butter to Tapastry, but more on them below… A little bit about this once in a lifetime line up…

(Keep an ear out for A$AP Ferg’s Butter references in his verse!)

A$AP Ferg – a man that needs very little introduction. Part of the A$AP family and an honorable part of the Butter Sydney Family. A$AP ferg was here in Sydney in early 2020, had a party at Butter and recorded this killer track with OneFour. (@asapferg)

OneFour – the Mt Druitt boys making waves around the world with their version of hip hop. Claiming the title of Australia’s first drill group, OneFour vividly rap about their harsh realities of life on the streets with confronting honesty (@onefour_official)

Tapastry – a Western Sydney based entity, with over a decade of experience designing and facilitates creative youth programs. Their aim is to utilise hip-hop to encourage positive change in the lives of young people in the Justice system and in community, utilising the skills of OneFour creatives to assist with developing workshops for young people. On this, MC Trey from Tapastry says “Historically, there has been significant research and impact evaluation into how hip-hop engages young people and the ability to work through complex issues and facilitate transformative experiences. This initiative will aim to build on this work.” (FB: Tapastry / IG: @treythelma)

This very special sandwich will be available from Tuesday 23 June to Sunday 5 July. This OneFourFerg Burg sandwich with a side of Butter’s famous laces will be going for $22 as dine in or takeaway or $24 via our delivery partners – UberEATS, Deliveroo and Menulog. It will be available from all 3 Butter sites:

Butter Surry Hills, Butter Parramatta and the Butter x Thievery pop up in Glebe – There will be limited numbers available each day, so make sure you get in A$AP! (see what we did there?!?!) BUTTER – IT – FORWARD

For the period that the OneFourFerg Burg is available, any sales of our Butter-It-Forward vouchers will be donated to Tapastry too. So even if you aren’t lucky enough to be close to a Butter site, you can still contribute to this great cause. These vouchers can be purchased via the following link here.

Spanian Releases New Single ‘The Six’

“I rapped in prison when it wasn’t eeets to rap in prison…”

Sydneys very own Spanian aka the Armageddon Don has just unleashed his latest single titled ‘The Six’. The underground rapper has been making waves with not only his raw and honest approach to music but also via a series of viral videos where he breaks down stories from his past and time spent behind bars.

His authentic demeanour has gained a legion of fans and headlines from some of the biggest publishers on the planet. The Six, produced by DAYTODAY is a slow paced head nodding joint packed with everything fans have come to expect from Spanian, killer tails from the street and a pair of fresh Asics, but it doesn’t stop there. In true Spanian fashion he breaks down why he’s a real g and leaves no one questioning his position.

You talking heart I am man down to my true fabric, you’re talking brands I am Gant down to my two Asics. I carry things in the streets that I do stab with, and actual back what I say, you just do ad libs”.

Spanian

Spanian has gone from strength to strength over the past year, and if The Six is anything to go by we’re in for some hectic new tracks on the horizon and hopefully a full album release soon. The Six dropped alongside a straight up street styled film clip, filmed and edited by The Last Addition. The locations on this one echo stories the Sydney rapper has shared in the past putting his city firmly in focus. Be sure to bang this one loud, you can keep up to date with Spanian here.

AUS To UK: Wombat Releases His Highly Anticipated Collab With Devlin

“It’s the UK Killer with the Wizard Of OZ!”

Wombat’s back like he never left! Tasmanian rapper Wombat has teamed up with Dagenham legend Devlin on the highly anticipated and long awaited collab dubbed ‘Adrenaline’. After destroying Wrighty (remember Wrighty?) in Australia’s first ever grime clash, Wombat continues making moves forward on this massive AUS to UK link up.

The energy Wombat brings to all of his tracks is unmatched in Australia and Adrenaline is no different. Prod by PEZOTB, Wombat rides the menacing beat with a barrage of bars that would impress the hardest of emcees. Devlin, not to be outdone, uses his years of experience to compliment Wombats ferociousness with his well constructed verses and a technical takeover that hones in with the precision of a guided missile.

…All these cunts wanna claim they came from the guttah, you came from your mother cunt!”

Wombat

Even though Wombat has been around for a moment now, we feel this is just the beginning of what’s coming from The Bat. No word on an upcoming album just yet, but with the release of this collab we feel we’re on the cusp. With such a great outcome from their first collaboration, it’s hard for us not want to see a joint EP from these two in the near future. Who knows…

You can check out the visuals for Adrenaline above, filmed by AV Club/No1 Network & Risky Roadz. Keep up to date with Wombat here and Devlin here.

L-FRESH The LION drops new single ‘Mother Tongue’

L Fresh The Lion Drops New Single Reminding Us That Policing Of Language In Australia Isn’t A Story Of Our Past

Pulling no punches, Mother Tongue arrives as an honest recount of L-FRESH The LION losing the ability to speak his native language, his Mother Tongue. The track captures the experience of many migrant and BIPOC communities here in Australia and throughout the world, diving deep into the shame, grief and disconnect L-FRESH has felt losing not only his connection to his first language of Punjabi but to the roots of his culture.

Release of Mother Tongue is coupled with the announcement of L-FRESH The LION’s forthcoming album SOUTH WEST on July 17. The body of work will be a celebration of South West Sydney, the area that raised him and continues to inspire him. Levelling up in every possible way, listeners can expect L-FRESH The LION at his best on this album with sounds reminiscent of his personal heroes Kendrick LamarJ Cole and Talib Kweli. Like his heroes, L-FRESH is inspired by the community around him. SOUTH WEST, a homage to the place that raised him up, and a nod to the rise of his fellow Western Sydney artist, including the likes ONEFOURBecca HatchJessica JadeHooligan Hefs and A.GIRL.

Mother Tongue was written about my story with my native language, my mother tongue. As a kid, English wasn’t the first language I spoke. It was Punjabi. My experiences of being born within 2, sometimes competing, cultures meant I lost touch with my language. I lost my fluency because I was conditioned to think my language wasn’t cool. Mother Tongue explores my regret in letting my language go, and how I’m working now to relearn it so I can keep close to my roots”.

L-FRESH The LION

Flexing his ability to lay down hard-hitting bars with unmissable truths, Mother Tongue teaches us something new with each repeat listen. Flow and lyrical-mastery are at the forefront of this track. Exploring the politics of otherness, lyrics like “Nothing is sacred, even the tongue is gentrified” explore white Australia’s ongoing issues with exploitation and discrimination against Australians of non-anglo background.

While some may think the policing of language or banning of tongues is a thing of the past, scratch a little deeper and you can see this practice is still alive and well. Too often people are asked to choose between their culture and the ‘Australian way’. To adopt words, to soften their message, to ‘speak properly.’ Mother Tongue arrives today as a reminder that culture is to be upheld and celebrated.

Mother Tongue is out now via Elefant Traks.

Pistol Pete & Enzo are well known within the industry for their raw and lyrical bars and ‘The Top’ remains true to their style while also showcasing a more diversified version of themselves. Through the new single it is evident that one of their greatest strengths in the Rap Game is the use of word play.

From one-liner puns such as “Put ‘em on the board cause they’re never gonna notice (know this)” to references from renown Disney movies, “if they’re lying (lion) about the king then they can get scarred,” the duo have no trouble piecing together sophisticated and unique lyrics. ‘The Top’ delivers a strong message of resilience and perseverance, an insight to their life and come-up as they make a significant return to the scene.

We Catch Up On Alerts Latest Track “Southside” feat. Purpose (Prod. Suffa)

New Alerts x Greeley of THCtv film clip coming soon

Adelaide emcee Alerts has dropped his new single “Southside” via YouTube tonight featuring Purpose, produced by Suffa of the Hilltop Hoods, mixed by Simplex and featuring cuts by DJ Sanchez. The three-minute offering from the pair gives a full 360-degree insight into growing up in the Southern Suburbs of Adelaide, affectionately known by many as the Southside.

Per capita, the Southside of ADL has arguably produced more nationally prominent rappers than anywhere in Australia with the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Delta, The Funkoars, Terra Firma, Prime, Prime, K21, After Hours and Train Of Thought all coming from the South and this track continues the legacy of quality – check below.

Alerts first came to national attention on Simplex’s debut Obese Records solo album “Audio Biography” through the standout posse cut track Opus Operandi along with Australian legends Delta of Nuffsaid Records and the ever-talented Motions. His memorable show stopping live performance accompanying this song at Home Grown for Da Klinic’s 10 th birthday bash in July 2011 at the now defunct HQ Complex main room really put him on notice. The track earned a place in esteemed Sydney DJ’s Shan Frenzie’s memorable Show & Prove mixtape showcasing the best hip hop released that year across the country along with the likes of Trem, Bias B, Drapht, Mantra plus more.

Alerts would go on to collaborate significantly with Kimence, as well as with a careful selection of Adelaide best including Mnops, Social Change, DJ Dyems and most recently Conseps. It is his stand- alone music however which has really established himself in his own right and led to support slots with the likes of Royce Da 5’9, Ras Kass, Kerser, Kings Konekted, Tech N9ne, Raekwon & Slick Rick, Skrub, Complete, Wombat, Rates, Delta, Cormega, Spice 1 and Fat Joe since 2015 leading him to headline his own gigs. Having performed all up and down Adelaide, Melbourne and Tasmania, Alerts has built a reputation for himself somewhat the old-fashioned way as a writer and performer from the ground up with a swell of support.

Back in late March 2018 almost two years ago to the day, Alerts dropped his impressive debut “The Prisoner” track produced by Simplex of Terra Firma. With the captivating visuals to the song executed by Josh Davis & Heath Kerr (Heata) of 1984 Films, the 4:20 minute offering has been played over 42,000 times on YouTube alone – a strong effort for his first independently released, unfiltered track.

Following a busy period of extensive performances across the country, the in-demand follow up was the three and a half minute “Get It” single released in June 2019, again produced by Simplex. The continuity in production work of the pairing of Alerts and Simplex sounds and feels like a natural fit and served as popular follow up to the breakthrough The Prisoner track. The music video is again Executed by Josh Davis and Heath Kerr of 1984 Films, really showcasing their diverse talents behind the lens. Get It also spawned a recent remix by Simplex, providing a fresh take on a heartfelt track.

Stay tuned – more Alerts music on the way soon, from the Southside to nation wide.
